ASEANnale 2023
ASEANnale 2023 is a hybrid (i.e. virtual and in-person) cultural dialogue where participants contribute to ASEAN Studies in a multi-disciplinary level. With a theme on Sustainability in Education: Intersections, Ideation, Innovations, it is a crucial event that brings together education practitioners, researchers, policymakers, and innovators to explore sustainable development in education in ASEAN. ASEANnale aims to foster regional and global dialogue and exchange of ideas on how education can address the challenges of environmental degradation, social inequality, and economic development while promoting sustainability in the ASEAN region and beyond.
The ASEANnale theme reflects the need to examine the intersections of sustainability and education in ASEAN and beyond, the ideation and innovations needed to address the challenges of sustainable development in education. It will provide a platform for participants to share their experiences and innovative practices in sustainable education and to explore new strategies for promoting sustainability in education through research presentation, multimedia and food festivals.
It highlights research and studies that present the narratives of their countries and the regional culture of ASEAN while showing to the region and the world the artistic and innovative works of ASEAN higher education students and faculty in producing digital video and multimedia materials and cuisines that reflect the intersection between food production and consumption and sustainability.
The first component is an online International Symposium, which will feature keynote speeches, panel discussions, and paper presentations on sustainability in ASEAN. Participants will have the opportunity to present their research, share their experiences, and engage in critical discussions on sustainable development.
The second component is a Digital Video and Multimedia Competition, which aims to showcase innovative multimedia productions that promote sustainable development in ASEAN. Participants will have the opportunity to present their multimedia productions, and winners will be selected by a panel of judges.
The third component is an ASEAN Food Festival, which aims to promote sustainable food systems in the region. The festival will showcase local and regional cuisines that promote cultural identity and food system sustainability in ASEAN. It introduces an AI prompt-based recipe competition that brings the level of re-imagined ASEAN cooking in digital, virtual spaces.
